Question:
i've tried connecting the dummy led to the existing alarm led on the dashboard but although the existing led switches off when the ignition is on the dummy led keeps on flashing.
i've even connected it straight to the existing alarm led bulb but it still won't switch off when i start the ignition.
Help please!
ps: the reason i'm adding another led is that I have a ford focus and thought an alarm led on the insided of the door where on a normal car the lock pin would be would look cool.

Help finding the Pioneer Avic N3 Navigation system under $1000?
You're wasting your time. It's just not possible to make a Ford Focus look cool. The simple way to do this is to connect one wire from the led to a permanent positive feed then connect the other led wire to the back of the ignition switch to the accessory feed wire, this is 12v positive when switched on but when the igniton is off it 'returns' to earth thus illuminating the led.Hope this helps.
Anyone know any good web sites to find low cost car stereo equipment?
Connect the positive side to a permanent live and the negative side to an ignition live. When the ignition on there will be equal voltage either side of the diode (LED) so it will not flash. When you turn the ignition off there will be low or no voltage on the ignition side so current will flow and the LED will flash.More Questions & Answers ...
