Question:
without having to buy the expensive wiring harness
Answers:
What is the best 6x9 speaker on earth?
Hey, everyone, he's talking about the expensive harness that retains the factory warning chimes when the GM radio is removed. (The GM factory radio generates all audible warning chimes in that model).I just got 2001 mountaineer and the radio display was on now it is not? what can i do?
If you can live without the chimes, then use a standard harness like the Metra 70-2003. The tricky part is that there's no accessory power wire in the factory radio harness because the stock radio is switched on and off by the data bus. The easiest way to tap an accessory power wire in your vehicle is at the key switch wiring, which is easy to access at the back left side of the radio cavity. A heavy brown wire is the accessory output. Just tap the red wire from the new radio harness into the thick brown wire from the key switch; but for safety you should put a 3a fuse on the red wire near the connection point.
Whats the difference between coaxial and component speakers?
You will lose all audible warning chimes, but other vehicle functions will not be affected. Despite what you may have been told, you will not have problems with airbags, factory locks, keyless entry or "check engine" lights due to removing the factory radio.

if $20 dollars is too muchuse a crowbar too yank out the old set and put the neww one in
then
and use a flamethrower to attach the wires to the existing car ones.
