The radio settings reset every time the car is off for more than 30 seconds, it it the radio or possibly was it installed wrong. if it was wrong how would i resolve this little problem, it is an aftermarket radio on a 1996 nissan sentra.

they probably didnt hook it up right. there should be a wire attached to the radio that still gives power even if the car is off.
It sounds as if the power source to the radio is supplied from a source that turns off with the ignition rather than one that continously receives power from the battery.

Should be simple to fix. Just find a wire that doesn't turn off with the ignition and power the radio from that.
