Question:
Hey guy/gals,
I have a '95 C280, and it comes with four rear speakers. Right now, I only have two Kenwood 240max/40rms 5.25" speakers in the rear. I also have a cheap no name 1000watt (so it says) 12" sub in the trunk. It sounds very, very good. I came up with the idea of putting in two 5.25" subs in the other two spaces for the rear speakers. The only subs that small I can find are two Pyramid 200watt/100rms subs. If I install those two small subs, and keep my one 12" in the trunk, what's the best type of amp to connect to them? I was thinking a 4-channel and connect the 12" to two channels, and split the other two channels to the smaller subs. I heard mono-amps are better, so is it possible to connect the 12" sub to one channel, and connect the smaller subs to the other channel in a mono amp? is that even possible? Is this idea just stupid? Thanks, Kris

can anyone else not have their car radio on an odd number?
Also, if the size is only 5.25, then it isn't a sub, it's a speaker
For your setup, if the 600 watt amp sounds good with the sub, I'd say leave it, and get a 4 channel amp and connect it to the other speakers.
If those kenwood speakers are 240max/40 rms, then they might not be too good, so I would suggest replacing them. Typically RMS wattage should be somewhere close to half of the max wattage. Otherwise the sound would start distorting and sounding like crap once you turn up the volume.
Where do I connect a USB to a Kenwood KDC-X590 Car Stereo?
If you replace the two kenwood speakers and then add two speakers to the remaining spaces, I would suggest going with the same type of speaker in all the places
Has any one installaled a amp in a 2000 ford toures sel i have one but there is no rca plugs HELP?
"so is it possible to connect the 12" sub to one channel, and connect the smaller subs to the other channel in a mono amp"What is the advantages/disadvantages of a sealed subwoofer box over a ported?
No since a mono amp only has one channel.
To wire three speakers to one mono amp, all three speaker should be 1/3 the total output power of the amp and the amp must be 1 ohm stable since three speakers in parallel will result in a 1.34 ohm load.
what is the best Amp to use on two 12'' size speakers??
