Question:
I have two duel 2 ohm voice coil 12" subs rated at 1000watts rms... how does changing my vc wiring effect my amp rms compared to the sub rated rms? I know wiring the vc in series gets 4 ohms and in parallel gets 1 ohms. but what is the rating of the sub designed for?

How big should the port hole be for a truck box?
The subs you have can be made to be a few different impedances to match an amp. If you wire both subs and voice coils in parallel your looking at a half ohm load on an amp. Only high quality amps can handle a half ohm load.If you run the voice coils in series and then run the 2 subs in parallel you will get a more reasonable 2 ohm load for the amp. This is probably going to be the route to go.
The other configuration is running everything in series but thats an 8 ohm load and I am assuming your not hooking this up to a home receiver =).
What amplifir should i use for a alpine type E subwoofer?
It doesnt matter to the speaker what way you wire it. It matters for the amplifier. Make sure you find out how much power the amp puts out at 2ohms (bridged if its a 2 channel amp) . If you need more info feel free to email me at spdboyny@yahoo.com
If you have a mono amp and running both DVC subs to it, there are only two ways to correctly wire the subs to it without causing harm AND if (in one of the two ways) your amp is 2 ohm stable.
High output alternator needed?
