Static in car Radio?

I have a Mitsubishi Montero 2001. In my city I get too much static on my radio, As soon as I go over the hill. Any advice?
My wife drives a Honda Civic 2006.No static!

Check your antenna, make sure it is screwed down tight on the mounting. Otherwise, get a longer antenna.

I would say switch from AM to FM...should be a little button. Not really sure where they put that in the Mitsubishi but should be labeled as "AM/FM" or something like that. Yeah I really don't like the static you run into with AM either. Good luck!

check your antenna connection. Not all head units get equal reception. I think Radio Shack used to sell an antenna signal booster. Also check if your HU has a "local / DX" switch.
