Does the type of stereo have anything to do with sound once you put all your speakers through amps?

Question:
i want 2 add a dvd indash that has am fm and i am wodenring if the type of stereo matters once all my speakers are through amps and have an eq just for money reasons im gonna hide the stereo so i find it useless to have a nice one i now have a pioneer premier and another dvd player but i dont think it sounds as good specially with music it sounds horrible if played on dvd player for ex music videos

Radio antenna problem?

The short answer to this one is Yes,,,the head unit (the reciever/player) has all the electronics for filtration etc.
The amplifier will do exactly what the name describes,,AMPLIFY.if you have a bad source signal, bad quality sound etc,,then that is what will be amplified.
Good idea you have of hiding the main deck though,,some neighbourhoods you cant leave nothing around.

One thing Thunder touched on but didn't dig into is pre amp voltages, the higher the value the more likelyhood of the head unit prividing cleaner sound.
