I have used Kicker subs and amps for years. Guy above is right.2 bozos above don't know what they are talking about.Here's the lowdown:

Kicker.amps a little overpriced and under rated, will put out more than stated, durability great if installed properly I have amps runnng that are from 10 years ago...I've also installed many recent models and they are still above average performers, subs are fair priced and handle all you can give them, I'm using 3 L7..8's right now on 2000 watts. Never skip a beat...I know, I know, why 8's...they are in a '34 hot rod and that's all the depth I had.
Hifonics.subs...I've never used, Amps very fair on pricing, seem a little over rated on watts (not much though) but sound quality is good. I've used a few recently...last year or so and they seem to hold up well.

All above is good product...installation is critical...it must be done properly with quality components. Boxes must be sized properly and built from quality components with high grade materials. Amps must have large enough wire for both 12v and ground, proper fusing, and firm mounting.
Kicker is junk, and JL is good. Hifonics are good, but not great.

Sound wise, watts are watts are watts.For instance, if each amp is pushing 300 watts RMS, there'll be no difference.
sparky's right. Key word watts. Many people don't believe this because they take for example a 1000watt boss amp and a jl1000/1 which actually does 1000watts and then they say that the jl sounds better. If you put any two amps that put out 1000watts rms then there will be little if no difference in sq.
Would a Kicker Zx750.1 amp overpower a pair of Kicker Comps?
Hifonics it seems overrates their amps by a little but they are great if your are on a budget. You could look at JBL amps of even Phoenix Gold if thats the case.
Kicker and JL both are good amps. The two clowns^^^^ up their have no clue what they are even saying. Kicker amps are very nice amps and they are actually underrated which means they actually put out more than what they state. I will admit that their subs are not that great but their amps are very good indeed.
