Question:
I am wondering what OHMS mean in laymans terms. I dont want the technical definition but what it means in terms of subs and amps. Also whats the difference between 1 2 and 4 ohm stable amps and which sounds better. I have 2 punch 4 OHM subs and I am wondering if i should spend more for a 4 OHM amp or buy a cheaper 1 ohm amp with the same watts.

Think of kinking a garden hose, the harder you kink it, the more resistance the water endures to get passed the kink. However, in electronics the opposite is true. The more resistance the less current can flow, but there are limits as 0 ohms is a dead short which allows all current to flow burning out the supply or worse damage (fire).
will any cd player fit into my car its a fiat punto?
In amplifiers, the higher the ohms, the less work for the amp but lower the output power and lower the THD (total harmonic distortion, this is good).
Just because an amp states it's 2 ohm stable doesn't mean it's best to load it to 2 ohms. In my opinion, it's ALWAYS best to load an amp at 4 ohms whenever possible (each cahnnel). However there is a price, the higher the watts @ 4ohms, the more expensive the amp.

Ohms is resistenace in regards to current. The greater the ohm the more pure the soundEddy is completely wrong or right if he swapped what he is saying. Basically the higher the ohms the higher the resistance, the better the sound quality but at the expense of less power from an amp.

Too little Ohms (resistance), then the amp is running much harder (this is how you fry an amp)
Is Pyle subwoofers and amplifiers any good?
ohms is the ammount of resistance your subs have. The lower the ohms of you subs the more power you amp will put out. Also the lower the ohms your amp uses the more power it will require. as an example you can look at this amphttp://www.crutchfield.com/s-kfwv5eyln2t...
you will notice the lower number of ohms the more power it putts out.
