Pioneer GM-3300T or Profile HA700M Amplifier?
Yes you do need an amp, no CD player has enough power to run a subwoofer, under powering a subwoofer is just as bad as overpowering a subwoofer. By not giving it enough power the voice coil will not be moving enough to move any air for it to cool. Over powering it will simply stretch and burn the voice coil.Check out eBay, you can find some pretty good deals for an amp there, diamond audio D3 series is a pretty good amp to choose from.http://cgi.ebay.com/diamond-audio-d5-300...
You can run it off your head unit,,but dont go cranking it up,,you stand to blow the amplifier module inside your head unit if you crank it up.
Kinda ruins your fun,,if ya do.
How can I power a 4 ohm dual voice coil subwoofer with the Rockford Fosgate 500s amp?
no a head unit with speakers getting power from it, then ur sub will not sound as good if u had an ampWhat subwoofer(s) would you recommend.?
its not absolutely nessessary but don't max out the volume anything above about 80% will turn into distortion and distortion kills speakers even with a low power head unit . I learned this the hard way I blew 2 500 watt 8's with a 50 watt head unitWiring in series..will this double the ohm draw from the amp?
You can either pay for the head unit to get fixed (because most likely it will get messed up) or you can save up for an amp. Id go with the ampBose car speaker, want to hook it into home system. there are 4 wires where do the all go?
Well, this is not a good idea for a couple of reasons. No head unit has the power to drive a subwoofer. Actually, the built in amp in any head unit is not well suited to run most speakers period. They basically are there just for simple installs. You simply cannot put a worthy amp in the size of a car radio along with the disc drive, display and controls. Worst case scenario you can blow the sub if you attempt to run it at high volume off of your deck. Basically all internal head unit amps have a higher THD% or "Total Harmonic Distortion". This means not only will you be substantially underpowering the sub you will powering it with low quality power. Just wait unitil you have an amp. Check out sounddomain.com. You can score a decent amp for your situation for probably around $100.00 with free shipping in some cases. Good Luck!More Questions & Answers ...
