How do I remove the stereo from a 2004 BMW 318iSE?

I've removed the trim and I'm ready to unscrew and pull the unit out. In the owners handbook I've read the stereo has an anti-theft alarm. Will this go off as soon as I start removing the unit? If not, at what point does the alarm go off?

I have never heard of an alarm going off if the radio is removed in a BMW. But just in case, be sure not to set the alarm. If all the doors are unlocked then the alarm isn't set. You should just be able to pop out the radio.
