Bridged channels into subwoofer?

Question:
if i have a 4 channel amp and i bridge each of the 2 channels togather to create 2 channels, what will the impedence be if i hook each bridged channel to a 2 ohm voice coil?

well first of all what ohm's are you starting with if you put two 8ohm together then you will end up with 4 ohms..then if you do the same on the other side you'll end up with the same 4ohm load..then putting them together you end up with a bridged empedience of 2 ohms wich is ok but the sound will be very raw...when ever you put an amp into bridge mode it's the same thing as putting your car on a nitrous kit and driving it with the rpm needle buried in the red..The am can handle it and will perform but you will be cutting the life of that amp by alot..and another thing is that the best and smoothest sound comes from speakers in the 16 to 8 ohm range..some car door speakers are a weird 3ohm and i've seen some at 10 and 5 ohms these speakers blow very easily for some reason.But the answer to your original question is yes you can wire your amp and speakers in this way..

It's best to look into the manual that came with the amp to understand the wiring configurations since every amplifier is made differently. Some amps may not be able to handle a 2-ohm load and could fail prematurely. So my advice would be to find a amp, preferably a mono channel if only using one sub, that can support the RMS rating for the subwoofer at 4-ohms (not many amps can handle 1-ohm mono). If you have a dual voice coil 2-ohm sub, wire it at 4-ohms mono.

But usualy when you bridge two channels on a 4-channel amp it have an impedence of 2-ohms bridged. But chances are, unless it's a really powerful 4-channel amp, it won't be able to put of the RMS requirements of the subwoofer.
