How much power do I need to run two 10" subs?

Question:
I am looking at putting two Pioneer TS-W251W 10" subs into my car. I want more bass than I currently have, but am not looking for something you can hear down the street. These subs have 120 W RMS, 600 W peak, and 4 ohm impedance.

I am a little confused on what minimum amp power I need. I've been looking at 2 channel amps that put out 125 W RMS x 2 at 4 ohms (190 W RMS x 2 at 2 ohms). Would this work? If not, why? I'm not sure if I want to go with a mono amp or stay with the 2 channel. Any additional help would be appreciated!

The choice you have will be fine. Ideally you want to stay around the watts RMS of the subs either per channel or with the total watts RMS of a mono amp with the total watts RMS of both subs with the correct impedance.

So wire each sub to each channel and you're fine.

On a 1000 watts why do my lights keep dimming?

Yes the amp could work. The only thing that you will need to do is bridge the amp and it would double the power that the amp is putting out. that means that if you have a 250 watt amp it would be 500.
