Replace it. It wasn't very good in the first place so go to your local stero shop and you can get a good replacement for under $100 and if that is all you want then they can install it in about 45minutes, maybe less.

sounds like the internal amp has had it to me! dont bother putting an external amp on the head unit you already have because it will sound really lame because the ford stereos are pritty crap anyway. i sugest that you go and get an aftermarket stereo to replace that one you can get them really cheap. try halfords they have always got ones in sales!!Can you give me advice on upgrading my audio system in my car?
sounds like its knackered.external amp wont help.check your speaker wires are not shorting.unplug speaker plug from radio and connect a known good speaker,if it works ok plug back in and disconnect all speakers then try good speaker on each one in turn.More Questions & Answers ...
