actually HID's use less amperage than normal bulbs. Just make sure your using a true retrofit for your headlights or they may be illegal. Most of the kits on EBAY arent DOT approved. What happens is when the HID lamp is mounted in a headlight assembly made for halogens you get the wrong light pattern. This causes alot of glare for oncoming drivers and honestly worse lighting conditions for you. It may be brighter and seem like you can see more, but the light isnt being directed in the places you need it.
