Anyone know the difference between hex cable and gauge cable?

I'm looking to get an amp wiring kit and I know I need a 4 gauge for the amp I have. I was looking at the Scosche EFX 4 ga kit but then found a Scosche E1000 E2 4 ga kit cheaper elsewhere. The only problem is that it comes with 9.5mm hex cable as opposed to 4 gauge cable. I found a site that says the hex is "comparable to 4 gauge" but that doesn't necessarily mean equal. What is the difference and how will it affect performance? Thank you for any help!

A question about a car stereo + car speakers?

At nearly 10mm, that is close enough. 4 Gauge wire will easily carry an 600 total watt RMS system as will the 9.5mm.
