hmm id say you should be ok because basically you can run 1-120 watts rms too the speaker from your amp,the bigger the amp is almost always better cuz u can always turn the gain down or wire the subs in series,if you already have all the stuff hook it up n see how it sounds..then decide if you want too go with a bigger amp also the box has ALOT too do with how it sounds ported is always louder then sealed, bandpass hit hard but are not recommended because you cant hear when the sub woofer distorts..hope that helped u out any..~marcus

When refering to watts, alwyas go by RMS, as Peak is a meaningless means of measurement.

Why doesn't my honda accord factory cd player play burnt cd's?

This is because an amp rarley ever reaches peak.

How do I hook up both amplifiers to the same subwoofer?

that amp is too low for you. you should always have an amp that is at least 75% of your RMS. so your 300rms sub needs at least 225w RMS. peak is a bad thing to look at because it almost never happens, only on those super lud booms.

Why did my head unit stop working?

dont listen to these guys they dont have a clue sony explodes ARE recomended to run sealed enclosures and the 1000 watts peak you can ignore, they are rated 500watts rms, do not exceed this limit always run 50-60% of the rating, to low and it will run but flap a little as the voice coil isn't getting enough power to push the cone away from the big hefty magnet at the bottom. so a 250-300 watt mono block amp or an amp with sub filter switch will run it and give clear strong bass. sony kenwood pioneer alpine and the likes have one channel amps on the go dedicated to running single subs. never repeat never hook them up in series as this will double the resistence, normally 4ohms, and blow the amp or the rca output of the head unit! ouch and smokey
