Blown Kenwood KDC-MP5028 CD Reciever?

I have a Kenwood KDC-MP5028 CD player. I was installing the system and everything was going fine. The wiring harness has the yellow cable missing which I think the the 12v. I attatched a wire and hooked it all up and everything was working fine. When I pushed the unit into the dash the wire cameout and it touched the black ground wire. I heard a pop and noticed that the unit was smoking a little bit. Now my unit will not power back on. The fuse is still good so thats not the problem. The radio fuse is also intact. Does anyone know what the problem is? Is there an internal fuse I dont know about? Your help wil be much appreciated. Im also trying to avoid taking it to a repair shop because I know they are goind to charge me an arm and a leg.

IS350 alpine cd player?

I don't know if you have any technical experience but if you do then follow the troubleshooting steps below.
You will need a multimeter or an AVOmeter, a soldering iron/gun.

Amplifier ohms??

I don't know exactly how that system PCB is designed but I do know definitely that power does not go directly to the processor so don't get afraid.
Since it smoked, check for any physically damaged components especially capacitors and transistors that may need replacement(soldering gun will come in handy here). If non has any physical damage then you'll have to use your Ohmmeter to do some testing following the part the voltage should flow through the circuit.

I think I have to stop here because without any technical experience, any more info will be useless to you so you may considering buying a new device.

Help with car amp install?

You have blown the processor in the deck. Make a good paper weight now but that about it. Would cost lots to fix it. Sorry to give you the bad news . There is no fuse inside the unit

What's the difference between Pioneer and Pioneer Premier?

If that hot wire hit the ground wire then you sent a charge back intop the ground side of the unit,, that yellow wire is for the memory for when you turn vehicle off and back on the station comes back to where you had it,, I dont think there is any room inside for an internal fuse, if you put your nose real close to the unit and if it smells like burnt electrical then I would toss it, you can get a nice new unit at Wal-mart for about $100 may not be a kenwood and all, but I have a good Pioneer for $88 from Walmart or you can see how much to have it fixed,
