I Need Help for my car audio system?

i have a 2004 ford escape and im getting 2 12' inch sony Xplod XS-L12S and i want to either make a box or get one installed{i just dont want to mess up on making the box} and i dont know alot about this stuff so is this the right speakers should i get a amp,equalizer? i need help and im taking any opinions

The speaker size and power is up to you. I personally use 2x 10" in a sealed box because this gives me the tightest sound (although 1x 12" of high quality sealed would sound pretty good too). If you want a lot of boom, the larger woofers are what you want, and you might want to consider a ported box (one with holes in it). Yes, you do need an amp to power it, and that amp will depend on the speakers you buy.

first of all i wouldnt suggest sony subs, i would go with kicker or alpine. regardless, you will need an amp to power the subs, you wont even notice a difference if you run them off of your stock deck. There is no real need for an equalizer, if anything i would just replace the stock radio you have with a pioneer or alpine deck. they have equalizers built in to them. As far as the box goes, pretty simple math and carpentry skills can make a decent sealed box. if you want your box ported, which in an suv is a good idea, it takes quite a bit more work, and if your not willing to put the time into it, it would just be easier to buy one. I used to work at circuit city in the car audio installations, and im not just feeding you a bunch of bs. if you have any other questions or would like to know specifics on anything let me know
