My boyfriend's dad just bought a Magellan Navigation System. It runs about $400.00 depending on the model, but is incredibly convenient. The biggest advantage to other systems is that you can change your mind on which street you want to take and it will automaticall recalculate on the fly. This is handy if a street selected is bad around rush hour, so alternate routes are a snap. After he had shopped around and checked out every feature of all the systems, he chose the Magellan. They take a bit of practice but once you've got it you're all set.

Had my Magellan Roadmate 300 for more than a year now, no complaints, just love it. Does the navigation and guidance job very well, if you don't need all of the fancy things like JPEG viewer, MP3, etc ...

I believed the new improved version for mine is now called Roadmate 360, all of the same features as mine, except that Magellan loaded some of the maps for you from the factory; while mine, I had to load the map from the included CD, no big fuss.
