What is the best deck, subs, and amp for a car?
yes it will make a huge difference what is the RMS power for your subs? and whats is the RMS power for your mids? e-mail me that and i will tell you what gauge wire to use.How do I hard wire an aftermarket radio to a 95 Honda Civic Dx?
there is a math formula depending on the footage of the wire it will tell you how many omhs increase by the foot.but keep it simple, for a regular car 14 or 12 gauge should be fine.its make difference because the smaller the wire the more resistance there will be,and that will decrease speaker performance.if you got a big amp and high watts speakers try 10 ga. wireIf you put it into terms like water flow, then having 1000 gallons of water flow through a pipe an inch wide would take forever, having the water drain out of a pipe a foot wide would take far less time. Depending on how much Amperage your system is producing, and how many feet of wire you need, you should be able to calculate the wire guage, however the math is a little complicated for the beginner. To find the guage, divide the Amp's RMS (search your amps model # online if you can't find it) by your cars idle voltage (hook a multi-meter to you battery while it's running) and you get the current of your amp. Example: My am is rated at 250 Watts rms (125 Watts rmp/channel into 4 Ohms) and my electrical system is producing 12.6 Volts DC, then 250/12.6=19.84 Amps. According to a wire guage chart (Google it) you would need a 10 guage wire for a 15 foot run. When in doubt, always get bigger than you need. Your speakers should be about a 16-12 guage.
