Enclosure for sub?

im getting a boston acoustics G512 and the ideal enclosure is sealed 1 cu. ft. can anyone tell me where to find one or tell me a rough estimate of how much it would cost to get one custom made at an audio shop....lets say for instance car toys

I used to be an installer for CarToys, and you don't want to get your box made there. You will get overcharged. What we did to make a box was estimate how long it would take us to make it, and then make up a price based on time, materials, and difficulty... no kidding. The installers worked on commision, so we charged what we wanted. I would buy one that is close to the size you need, and CarToys does have them pre-made (it's what we did on our spare time, we would make a few and if it sold, we would get a cut) that you could get about that size. If the box is a litte off, you can always use fiberfill to fill the hole up. I would charge you about $165 to make it. My cost would be about $12-15, the rest is in labor. We have software that we use to punch in the dimensions of your sub along with it's power capabilities, and it generates the box design. Almost no thought is needed. Most shops might charge you the same, so you might be better off buying one pre-made.

If you don't want to go that route, just check your local yellow pages for car audio shops. They will actually KNOW what kind of box will sound good, and they will have ALL of the resources needed to build it. It may cost a little more than walmart or car toys, but the difference in sound quality and workmanship (especially if you get a ported box) will be very, very much worth the extra cost.
