Yes this is possible and common in a lot of older mature audiophiles. You can hook up an amplifier to just power your stock speakers if you want, they'll just be louder. Or if you want some bass, then just invest in a nice pair of mid-range round speakers and amplify those.

I have a 99 Grand am, and i have a cd stuck in my jvc cd player, plz help, getting sick of cd!?

How do i hook two 12" 2 ohm speakers to a 4 ohm 2 channel amp?

yes
bcoz
amp is meant to gain the output of a speaker, either its ur speaker, tweeter or a subwoofer!

Infinity speakers?

Most often when people upgrade their audio system, they put in a multi-channel amp for the front and rear speakers that also get replaced to match the new amp as well as replace the head unit for better clarity. They may also add another amp just for a subwoofer or two for that added bass.
