Edit: As for John W below me, he is not asking about the legality of the radio. We all know that an import radio is not type accepted by the FCC. But by being so, it does not stop anyone from using them. I can not begin to count the number of "freebanders" out there, and do any of them get cought, sure, but mostly because they were stupid, immature and told the entire radio world about their setup. The actual chances of the FCC actually knowing that you are using an import radio and actually dong to something about it are 1 in 1,000,000. Just respect the airwaves and stay off of the 10 meter band unless you are a licensed Ham radio operator. I run a Magnum S-9 (import radio) and I am not at all concerned about the FCC knocking at my door anytime soon
