Question:
driving around (in a rental car, so i can't just turn my music up.) it occurs to me there are two kinds of annoying music from other cars. the first is the car with nice clean bass... where they even bother to dampen the vibrations of the trunk... but they spen nothing on the rest. bass you can feel for blocks, but highs you cant hear next to the car with its windows down.
the second, is cars playing some b-grade rap song at full blast. usually loud enough to suggest the speakers are after market and/or amped... but the bass is not there. a song where the main beat is deep base, that the stereo can't create.
which is worse. if someone asks me what they should go for (and they ignore my "don't bother to go halfway") what should i recomend. nice base with nothing to back the music up, or decent mids &highs with no bass to back it up?

I can spend FAR less than $5K and have a very decent system. In fact I can spend less than $1K and still have a very decent system.
Rockford 851s amp that puts out atleast 850 watt rms x 2. What speakers?? 400 rms?
