You need a high output alternator. You cannot make power out of thin air. If your battery is having problem holding a proper charge, replace it but you will continue to have power demand problems until you upgrade your alt. your amplifier needs about 150 amps of power we don't know what vehicle you have but most likely there is only 30 to 50 extra amps in your alternatorso yes a new high output alternator will help but it is a lot of money and modification

The 1st answer is partly right. True that if your battery is not holding a proper charge then an oversized alternator will only help you a little. Your system is powered by your battery/batteries only while you are parked and the engine is not running. While driving, your system is powered mostly by your alternator. True that your battery provides peak current output that your alternator could not possibly provide to your system. This is evident in the many DB systems that are built and have multiple batteries installed. These systems also have external power supplies that keep the batteries at their peak levels. Very few of them have enough alternators installed to provide the current required for the sound levels they are producing. Some of the top DB Drag vehicles never even start their engines.Make sure your battery is operating properly.

Capacitors are bogus. Only work if your wiring to your amps is too small. They only store energy from your exsisting 12v system. They don't add anything to performance.except emptying your wallet.
Check the Kinetik website. They make the most reasonably priced, and best batteries for audio. Optima has had some trouble in the last few years and Stinger is way over priced. Tried getting technical info from Stinger and they won't return calls or e-mails.

run a cap. i do however run a second battery also. i found the the best thingi ever did was use the cap though. you DO NOT need a super high output alternator unless you are running over a true 1,000 watts. that is a fact! make sour you have a nice strong battery like a yellow top optima and use a good cap. you really do want a minimum of 8farad cap if you are running any real power. those little 1 and 2 farad caps are junl unless you are running about 500 watts at the most. hope this helps.Which rap songs have the loudest carried bass in them?
