i have a sony xplod 1000 watt amp and sony xplod 1200 watt 12" sub and i have a scosche capacitor hooked up and i still have a major power draw. Headlights and dome lights dim out nearly all the way then gauge spikes and blows the two 30amp fuses in the amp. What do i need to do.

Where are you drawing the power from? You should be using a 100 amp (12V x 100A = 1200W) fuse straight off the battery. You should be running some fat wires too, like 4 gauge or better.Why does my amp keep blowing fuses?

get a higher output alternatorit could be a few things. get lower gauge wires always helps. or get a capictor that is 5-7 farads or more. Sonys always drain mad power from the battery. other, more expensive amplifiies, like JL or Kicker, though supposedly deliveer just as much punch or more, for less wattage.good luck
FIRST OFF WHAT TYPE OF CAR? IT SOUNDS LIKE U NEED TO UPGRADE YOUR ALTERNATOR. WHEN U RUN THAT MUCH AMPS YOUR ASKING FOR A FIRE OR LOOKING TO WALK THE REST OF THE WAY HOME . THE CARS WIRING WONT HOLD LONG UNTIL IT BURNS THROUGH THE CASING. IF IT IS BLOWING 30 AMPERS THAT IS A LOT OF STRESS GO TO A GARAGE AND GET A AMP READING WITH STEREO. ON THEN OFF BUT IT LOOKS LIKE U NEED TO UPGRADE IT WILL BE IN YOUR BEST INTEREST ALSO CHECK ALL WIRES LEADING FROM THE BATTERY TO MAKE SURE THERE IS NO OPEN OR RUBBED WIRES TOUCHING ANY METAL, AND CHECK ALL GROUNDS. Something to consider...this is an example...To calculate the current draw of an amplifier, multiply the number of channels by the RMS watts per channel (a 2 channel amp rated at 2000 watts RMS per channel would be 4000 watts). Double it to account for amplifier inefficiency (4000 watts X 2 = 8000 watts), then divide by the average output voltage of an alternator, 13.8 volts (8000 divided by 13.8 = 579 amps). Since the average music signal requires about 1/3rd of the average power in a test tone, divide by 3 (579 amps divided by 3 = 193 amps).
This is an average approximation of current draw and can go higher. So I would gather between 194 and 289 amperes for this example.
