I need a new head unit, any ideas?

The GM Corvette 717's are good units. Depends on whether you are playing "real" discs or burnt discs. I have noticed that some brands of burnt discs will skip in certain car cd decks. You can take the same disc and put it in a different brand of player, and it will play fine. I know the 717 is supposed to play cdrw but it is possible that it is the disc itself, but I am unsure what type of disc you are attempting to play. IF the unit skips even with a store bought disc, then you probably have a defective unit that will require repair. You can try a cd lens cleaner, but I dont really believe in them, though people have told me that the help sometimes. May be some dust on the lens. Hope this helped. Live loud!
