Question:
I have two rockford fosgate p2 10 inch subs in a ported enclosure. 250 Watts RMS. 500 Watts PEAK. Should I get the rockford 450.2 or the class D 600.1? Keep in mind the 600.1 is $100 more. Which do I need to maximize my subs. I have the rockford 250.2 right now.

Pretty basic principle of wattage and amplifier type. The 450.2 is a class a/b amp, which is great for full frequency response from any speakers you might put in a car. A class D amp (or in this case a b/d amp) is specifically designed to drive the lower frequencies of any speakers you connect to it. In other words you will get more power dedicated to your woofer with the 600.1 (wattage not withstanding). The extra wattage is actually better for your speakers as it will increase the headroom of the signal being played. In other words, you will have more power in reserve when an extra low/loud bass note is played. The biggest misconception in the audio world is that you can't put a larger wattage amp with a smaller wattage speaker, it is actually the opposite (within reason considering the level that you play your music). Again extra power increases headroom and helps eliminate distortion which is caused when you have a smaller amplifier trying to work to hard. Distortion is what blow speakers, not wattage. That is why inexpensive head units still blow brand new speakers that might be rated at 3-5 time the actual wattage being fed to them.
Spend the extra $100 and if you wire everything right, your system will not be "clipping" and shutting down the amp every time the bass hits.
