My husband was given this amp by his brother and It won't work. Correction it works when we hook it up to the dvd player upstairs in the house but when it is installed in our van it won't let sound travel through it. We think his brother may have been duped by some audio store. Can some one send me to an internet site that will show us pictures of what the inside of the amp should look like my brother installs these but can't get it to work he opened it up and it had very little inside and had about 5 or 6 metal plates inside measuring about 2 x 3 inches he thinks they where added to make the amp feel heavy so no one would be suspicious. Can any one help please. I have tried looking my self but I don't know what I am looking for. Will appreciate any help I can get. Thanks

The metal plates inside are used for heat disapation. One thing to check is there should be fuse somewhere on the amp. When installed in your van ensure the power line comes directly from the battery to the amp. The negative should go to ground (the metal body of the car.) Also there is a remote wire that goes from the cd player in the car to the amp. The remote wire sends a signal form the cd player to the amp telling it it's time to turn on. If it's a factory stereo it might not have this option. Ensure speaker wire goes from amp to speakers. Also check the RCA cables from cd player to amp. The rca's send the sound signal from the cd player to the amp. Amp should have a power light when on. Thats all I can think of any more at the moment.
