To answer the question, two subs would push more air resulting in harder hitting bass. The difference between the two power levels is only about 3 dB. Every time you double power you only get a 3 dB increase.

hello there.even i asked this once on yahoo aswers when i was deciding to buy a new woofer and an amp.bass is caused due to amount of air displaced...to explain it to simplest 2 woofers at 250 rms each will push the same amount of air as 1 woofer with 500wats rms.that means they both will give same amount of bass as one with 500watts.now some extra information -i came to kno that my amp was 2 ohm stable..at 2 ohms u'll get more wattage(rms)..but with a lil more distortion,just a lil more.so instead of adding one more woofer i decided to sell my single voice coil woofer(4 ohms) and bought a dual 4 ohm woofer which i connected to my amp at impedence of 2 ohms- this 4 ohm woofer can be converted to 2 ohms or 8 ohms(multiple wiring options) u can ask a shopkeeper also.so this saved my money by two ways
-i didnt have to buy a new woofer
-i didnt have to buy a new amplifier
even more saved on my wiring kit and space of my car.
