How do you remove stereo system from ford fairmont EL, are there tricks?

Question:
Need to install Cd player and remove old cassette player, apparently there are buttons that will release it but its not working

Answers:

I have 2 12" subwoffers and a 1600 watt amp. whenever i change source or change station i get a loud thump why

First remove the ash tray and that will revile a screw that has to come out(left). The facia will still be stuck because of a latch of the right so use so don't be afraid to use some force to pull it out. It will still be attached at the top. Put the car in to 1st gear (auto) and then pull the facia towards the windscreen. Now that the facia is off your real problem starts as there are anti-theft screws that need to come out. Your options are drill them out, chip away at the middle part till you can get a screw driver in there or get your hands on a tool called t-20 torx. Car audio shops have them so if you ask nicely enough they just might lend it to you. Good luck!!
