the first thing i want to say is completely ignore what BLASITO said...
it is completely impossible to blow up a subwoofer with not enough power.
and distortion does not necessarily mean that your subwoofer is about to pop. distortion is actually used to win SPL tournaments.
How does the signal from a radio work?
back to the question:
if the amplifier is much more powerful than the subwoofer than yes. it will over power the subs. they will overheat. and blow.
if you have the RMS watts of the amp/subs matched correctly than you can turn it up all the way and the subs will not blow. "but" the amp might heat up so you might want to be sure your amp can handle all of its own power.
Who sings the song 'dear jonny' from GTA San Andreas?
if you dont have enough wattage coming from the amp to the subs than it is literally impossible to blow the subs, because you do not have what it takes to blow them. turning the amp up all the way "will" cause harmless distortion. it is not because the subs are blowing. it is because the amp is pushing everything its got and lets go of sound quality to be able to push that much. this can heat up your amplifier also
Amplifier, Woofer, Sub Woofer?
Yes!,and Possibly blow-out your Windshield! Can an amp be hooked up to my factory ford stereo?
yup, youd phuck up your ears pretty badly tooWhat size speakers are in a 1998 Oldsmobile Bravada?
yes. When you get a sub and amp, make sure their RMS wattage ratings match (or close) so that you don't blow your subwoofer. If you want loud, you're going to have to pay for it.Will this fit in my 01 silverado?
yes it is posible due to distorsion , it is easier to blow a sub with a low power amp that causes distortion , and when you use a high power amp it is easier to burn small voice coils from small subsWill "illegal bass test" tracks hurt normal speakers?
If the woofer cannot handle the power then yes it would definitely blowI am looking for a vocal and bass amp. What should i search for?
lol, of course you can.How do i wire a toggle switch to my speakers?
"it is completely impossible to blow up a subwoofer with not enough power. " isn't totally true. It really depends how the gain is set.Whats the difference in Car amplifiers?
With gains set correctly, I fully agree with that statement. However there are those who try to squeeze every bit of power they can by cranking the gain. This will cause clipping which WILL damage a sub.
