I can go into extreme detail as to how a capacitor works, but for now i will say that a Farad is a unit of measurement for the amount of charge a capacitor will hold. A good rule of thumb when dealing with car audio capcitors is 1 Farad for every 1000 watts of power you plan on using. If you have a 1000 watt amp, use a 1 Farad capacitor.
