It can be done. It is only when your trying to add to one that is the problem. Bose has it to where you can not put drops add an amp with a sub which sucks. You can change the deck and not the speakers though. Keep in mind the watts that the deck puts out when buying one though. You need to get a deck that pushes close to the same so the sound is still there that your looking for. I have owned a 97 and 2000 Z-28. Which has the same stereo the vette has. I changed the deck in both and ended up changing all my speakers as I went along as well.
