Any one know where in the clevedon BS21 area that can fit?

No you do not need it, but it is easier with it, you can use another thing called a hi-lo converter/adaptor. you run it from Speaker wires, and it converts it to be able to use with an AMP/Subwooofer.

why doesn't my subs work?

No. You can use the high level inputs or the run the speaker outputs from the deck to the amp.

XM Radio Customers?

Not only is it easier, it's infinitely better. The sound from speaker level outputs, once amplified is not great. Way more distortion than you'd have with line level (RCA) outputs. And what if you decide to upgrade to an amp for your mids/highs? I'd get a head unit with at least 2 pairs of RCA outputs.
