Why is my car cd playing up?

Question:
It plays tracks from beginning to end without any probs but it is jumping to tracks out of sequence. e.g. at the end of track 1 it starts track 10, at the end of track 10 it starts track 6 etc etc.

Check the manual for the proper buttons to push to take it out of "random play". If you don't have the manual, check to see the manufacturer (IE Sony perhaps) and the model number, and do a web search for one.

10s 12s 15s....18s? Is there really a difference?

Because you probably pushed the "Random" button, it jumps between tracks while the cd is playing if you pushed it. Just find the random button and push it again to shut it off.

It must be set to play random tracks, see if you can change the settings.

maybe u have it set to play on random, and it will play out of sequence and pick a track at random

If its a Sony they call it Shuffle. While playing a CD press preset button 4 (Shuf) until it says Shuf off.
