I've had Alpine and Kicker. I loved my solo kicker until it was stolen. I found the difference in sound really comes from your mid and tweeter. A really screaming system requires better cabin speakers vs subs. For a good Booming sound make sure your car is tightened up. There is nothing worse than strange rattles caused by the base.

in my BMW i had a few kicker solo barics, they sounded good for a while and i sold them when i got rid of the car

What are the stock speakers in a 1999 Ford Ranger XLT?

Two Rocksford P2 10" Dual Voice Coils wired to 8Ohms, and 2 Rocksford P3 12" at 1Ohm. Cleanest sound imaginable, but a little light on the super-low end. Could use a 15", but I'm out of space.
