A friend has a 15" q power subwoofer in his truck and has recently got a hifonics brutus 1600d amp. He just wants to get a sub that will produce a load of bass for not that much money. He just wants something until he gets his suv.

Why doesnt he save up a little bit, and get a quality woofer when he gets his SUV. Just so you know, most of the bass comes from the enclosure; where ported enclosures create more output (and still retain SQ). Sealed boxes should generally be stayed away from, unless you worry about space, in which case you should have gotten a woofer which needed less airspace.Your friend is going to have a tough time finding a "cheap" sub that handles that kind of power. The Kicker L7 or CVX 15" will handle 1000 watts rms. You might try TC Audio or Hifonics. The TC subs are really nice but he's going to spend some $$$ to get the 1600 watt capability. Hifonics also makes some quad voice coil subs that might do the trick.again mucho $$$.
Kicker CVR below is only rated at 500 watts RMS...others not sure.
