Question:
In the market for a new amp and looking at a sony Xplod 1000 watt amp to power my two Lanzar subs. A budy of mine has two sony xplod subs and two xplod amps one 1200 watt one for the subs and a 600 watt 4 channel for his speakers and his system pounds hard...but then i hear many people saying sony xplod sucks? is this tru or is it just Bull S***...if you own Sony xplod or you KNOW not heard from someone gimme the scoop...thanks

If you want recommendations for budget yet quality amps, try Hifonics. Hifonics is one of the most highly recognized budget brands, for amps.
Sony, in my opinion, is not up there with the big dogs, like some moron mentioned. They really aren't that high of quality. They are known for distortion and getting hot.
Like I said before, if you like the way your friends' sounded, and you can get deals on them then do it. Otherwise there are way better brands for the money.

Sony's ok for a basic setup. It's like comparing Reebok to Nike. I would suggest if your gonna get anykind of stereo equipment do a lot of research so you don't feel like you could have spent an extra 100 bucks for the one you really wanted. I own 2 xplod amplifier they run too hot i will look for a diferent brand for car audio all my tvs. at home are sony vcr,dvd,alarm clock, telefones i love them alland will buy them again

If you want to push your equipment to the max then sony is probably not a great brand. I have an amp from sony and I love it, it's pretty loud and doesn't run too hot. A bit much distortion at high output but that is part the head unit. I would buy it or look for a good deal on ebay for a better brand.
The people that say anything bad about Sony either doesn't know what they are doing in the first place or are just going on hearsay.

I have a few years invested in the mobile audio/consumer electronics field. I've seen product come and go. I have repaired many different brands of amplifiers and I can say that anything Sony puts out is well worth the money.

After plenty of experience installing Sony Xplod products (as well as troubleshooting problems with them) here's what I'd say about them:Do you need an installation kit for all car stereos?
Their amplifiers have been solid for as long as I've worked with them, and I haven't seen more problems with them than with any other brand. I wasn't happy with some of their head units about 6-7 years ago, but they've improved since then, and lately I think they compare well with anything in their price range. I've never been impressed with Sony's speaker line, but that's true of most head unit/amp manufacturers that also make speakers.

I wouldn't have any reservations about that amplifier. If you like it, and it matches what you want to do with it, and you can get it for a good price, then go ahead.

do not get xplods. for one they say 1000 they mean like 10 [ok i'm exagerating] but if youre going for the look it usually doesnt matter b/c the amp is hidden anyways

But seriously... save your money and buy something better. Anyone that knows anything about car audio and says to buy a sony you should never listen to them again! I am not doggin sony as a company, look they got some sweet sh** out there like the PS3 and stuff but when it comes to car audio they are not "worthy" IMO
