Question:
Ok, here's my problem; i have a set of 6 1/2 inch speakers, plus what i've always called an 8 inch 'bazooka tube' subwoofer, and a JVC head unit installed in my 66 Beetle. Everything is wired in to the head unit, and i'm wondering if i can safely add an amp to the system; i'm planning on adding two more speakers to the front of the car, and i assumed i would need an amp to be able to power it all. The charging system in it keeps up fine right now, and the sound quality is pretty good, but i assumed two more speakers would put a strain on everything.
I should add i'm changing to a Pioneer DEH-P4400 head unit in a few weeks.
Can i add an amp to this safely? And do i really need one to add two more speakers?

I would but that Pioneer head unit will have a lot of power to run your door speakers. I use to have one. Wait till you get the deck you might like it without the amp.More Questions & Answers ...
