Question:
I read somewhere that it wasn't compatible with Apple iTunes, so I just want to make sure it will play the songs on my iPod downloaded from iTunes before I buy it.

Frequency and Gain on a car sub?
Nope it sure won't it will only play .mp3 and .wma files. itunes are coded differently than other formats. You could however get a program to convert your itunes to standard mp3 then you'd be in business. No I dont believe this radio will play Itunes.. I think it is MP3 and WMA files only.
Stereo Control panel lights are off?

If your feeding an audio signal from your iPod to the front auxiliary input, then yes it will work just fine.
is it true on newer model cars that if u hook up an aftermarket stereo....?
You can also burn your iTunes songs to CD-RW (like store bought CD's) then convert them back to MP3 and then burn to a CD-R, that will work for that HU.
it depends if you look at the box that it comes in it should say if it is I tune ready
