I recommend to upgrade your speakers, since is definitely too much power for the 40 w speakers to handle and they 're going get distortion. You can use them for a while, but in time they will be blown. If decide to upgrade, match the speakers power (rms) with the power of your amp (rms). In your case buy a 100 w rms speaker or greater. Trust me on this. How do i install a 2nd battery for stereo use?,?
assumming all rating are RMS sure. i assume it is 100x 4 rating on the amp? what i would suggest though is to put some form of high pass filter on the 40 watt speakers, i'd guess around 80-100hz, and keep the gains down some. see 80% of the power is in the range under 100HZ. but not 80% of the "sound" .Will a factory cd player from a 2006 suburban work in a 2000 cavalier?
Realistically, that amp is probably rated 400w "peak", which translates to about 130w continuous. That is the more important number. Although that is technically still too much amp for your speakers, you should be okay if:1. You do not turn up the volume too high.
2. The speakers all have the same impedence rating (for example "4 ohms"). They MUST all have the same impedence or you will have trouble.
What I need to put in a subwoofer?
What ohm, holmes? It will work that adds up to 280 watts rms 70x4
