Question:
i was wondering if you can use a amp without connecting the rem wire to the amp
Answers:
well you could connect the rem wire to the 12+ wire on the amp but then the amp would never turn off. The rem stands for remote. Its the wire that turns the amp on or orr. If its not hooked up at all the amp will never turn on. Its usually hooked to the back of the stereo to a wire that becomes hot when the stereo is turned on, so then it sends voltage to the amp and turns it on. You have to have it, essencially. You could hook a wire to something in the trunk that only get power when the car comes on. or hook the rem wire to the 12+ volt wire with a toggle switch to turn it on or off, cause if it stays on when the car is off itll run down you battery
It's required to turn the amp on. You can run a fused (1 amp) wire from a fuse in the fuse panel to a switch then from the other side of the switch to the REM connection on the amp.
Doe's anyone know what size the speakers are in the front door of a 97 s-10 Blazer..?
This allows for full control (when grandma gets in the car) and you never have to worry about forgetting to turn off the amp.
When you locate a fuse in the fuse panel that has power when the key is on and has no powe rwhen the keys is off, determine the side of the fuse that is the power side by removing the fuse (mark it's location) and with a volt-meter testing which side is the power side. You would then get a fuse tap (take in your fuse to get the right one) from your local auto parts store and tap from the power side. An inline 1 amp fuse will be fine to run as mentioned above.
