Question regarding car stereo specs. and installation.?

Question:
I recently replaced the sub-woofers in my system. I bought and installed 2 10" subs rated at 150 watts RMS ea. My amp. is rated at 75 watts RMS per channel. I didn't think it would matter but it seems to (greatly). They don't have nearly the punch my old ones did. They sound shallow and when I add volume they break up. Do I need a more powerful amp. or what. Please help.

First check if your amp support bridging mode at 2 ohms. If supported, connect the 2 subs in bridged mode and in parallel that will give about 150 w rms to each sub because connecting the sub in parallel halve the impedance seen at the amp's outputs while increasing the power. It will definitely sound louder. If still think you need more power then what you need is a more powerful amp.

Have two s12L5 subs? which amp would you recommend for them? links would be great.?

Yes you should get a stronger amp. Or if this is a two channel amp then maybe you can wire it in parallel or bridge them. It is better to overpower than underpower is what I've always heard. You could also try playing with the gain on the amp, but don't turn it to high you don't want them to clip. I'd say switch to a monoblock amp /class D that way if you replace them again you can reuse it. Keep the one you have right now for some components.

Are Fusion Subwoofers Good?

you didnt say what brand or model the subs are but if your using the same box as before the air space for the new subs might be differentor might need to be ported.if the box is to small that is easy just add fiber fill to the box.

How can i get a screw thats stripped OUT...to small for a screw extractor..and its in a car stereo.?

I don't know if you adjusted your gain and what not in the back of your amp but give that a shot and than see if the quality changes. Start by playing a song and adjust the gain as the song places to find the right placement.

Now, an amp is an integral part of a system, especially the subs. Invest in a good amp and maybe a capacitor to give you a nice crisp sound and good power management.
