How can you tell when a sub is about to blow?

I got a sub with a LOT of power runnign through it, it sounds good but it pumps back and fourth real hard and sometiems I can't belive that it just dosen't rip right out of there. How can you tell if its up too loud?

Are you trying to blow it? If not, turn the gain down a little. If so, turn it up!

You will start to smell a wierd burning smell. It is a smell that you probably have never smelled before. You will know it when you smell it. Trust me, I have blown my fair share of subs.
