How do you turn a speaker into a subwoofer is it how they are just made?

That would be nice. You can get 1 15" of the same kind to be louder than 2 12's. This ALL depends on box design, though.
Go for it!

Larger woofers DO NOT move 'slower' than smaller ones. Yes, the fs is lower, but anything alse is crap!

That depends on what you want.

How do I pull out my stereo?

The frequency response of a 15" sub is going to be different from a 12" sub. Ideally, you'd want a series of varied sized subs to gets a flat frequency response. Unfortunately thats both electronically and physically complicated, since you'd have to analyze the frequency response of each individual speaker in its own custom enclosure and then adjust each speaker's levels to make it come out flat across the frequency band.

Added sub, now speakers wont work?

On that note. A 15" speaker has a lower frequency naturally than a 12" speaker. A larger speaker can push more air volume; due to its size, and its larger enclosure size, it tends to have a maximum output at a lower frequency.

I'm looking for an affordable car stereo that will easily play my ipod and potentially sirius. Any thoughts?

Sound volume is interpreted by the human body as the amplitude, or strength, of the sound waves that reach the ear, while frequency is interpreted by the distance between the sound waves (or pulses) that reach the ear. Therefore, a larger speaker, which can push more air, can produce a higher amplitude, or more powerful pulse of air, assuming it is electronically and mechanically equivalent to the smaller speaker we are comparing it to. However, two 12" speakers will be able to push more volume of air than one 15" speaker, therefore, again, assuming similar contruction and electronics, both together should produce larger sound waves and therefore higher volumes.

In a amplfier how does the amp no how much power whats needed for a speaker?

So we're back to the first point, what do you want?
Two 12" speakers are capable of higher volumes (assuming same power characteristics) than a single 15" speaker. They will have a peak frequency response at a frequency higher than the 15" speaker.

What type of subs are good?

If your goal is to hit one particular note louder than everyone else, and that note happens to be in the resonant peak frequency of the 15" woofer, then go for that. If its in the peak of the 12" woofer, go for that.

Looking to get a subwoofer/amp package?

yeah the sound would be a little different, but i heard that 12 sound better than 15s and 10s aound better than 12s. somthingabout the size of the spring andsomthing else.

One 15" sub can replace two 12 inch speakers. There is a few things that you have to take into consideration if you plan on doing this.

What Is HD Radio?

1. The bigger the speaker, the lower the decibles. The bass is going to be deeper with a more of hum than a punch. 10" subs hit hard and 12" have a great range for both high and low decibles and 15" seaker are deep but don't hit as hard.

Do most new cars these days come with DVD players?

2. You will need a one channel competition amp that has the power to push a 15" sub. I would recomend the MTX "D" series amp. You can put in a two channel amp but you would have to cross it over to lower the impedence to around 2 ohms.

Can somboady tell me how subwoofers make pressure to suck in and out though the turbo port and stuff thankx.?

3. With low impedences it draws a lot of amps and heats up quickly. Be sure that you have a 60 to 100 watt fuse installed and check your amp every so often. You don't want it to over heat and fry the circuitry in the amp. You might also want to look into buying a deep cycle battery that would indepently run your system so you don't drain your car battery.

How do i wire an 8 ohm dual voice coil subwoofer to a 4-ohm amp?

Can i use a car amp with regular speakers?

The one sub that I was really impressed with when I heard it was one put out by JL AUDIO and it is a competition sub. JL has always been about quality. They produce a 13" W7 driver that hits harder than any 12" sub I have heard and deeper than most 15" sub. But it is a power hungry sub with a nominal rating of 1000watts. I guess the question comes down to how much you want to spend.

In audio in speakers and tweeters + subwoofers what makes them change the sound rate is it gust the material?

But I would agree with the others that bigger is not better. I have two 10" JL AUDIO W3v2 driven by a Memphis class D 500 rms watt mono block. It hits harder than any 12's I have owned. I have had Pioneer, MTX thunder 5000's, and Infinity. But I have liked the JL Audio the best they just sound a lot cleaner than the others. The price for the two 10's and the amp was in the $800 range.

Is it possible to use a amplifier on a car with subwoofers?

conejote… Brings up a good point about cone area but there is something else to factor into that and that is how far can the cone travel peak to peak. one 15" sub covers a little less than 225 sq " of cone area while two 12 will cover 288 sq".

Why is it that when i try to play a c.d on my stock radio deck it says "err".?

The general rule of thumb for every driver you add you get a 3db gain in output. Also every time you double the power you also get a 3db gain in output. Driver sensativity is also important. a driver that can handle 250 watts rms and has a sensativity of 92db @ one watt will produce up 116db of output at 256watts.

Is a 1200 watt system with 2 800 watt subs, all sony xplod a pretty good one?

The further the cone can travel without bottoming out the more air it can move and thus produce more volume. This is why a high quality 10" sub can out throw a 15". A JL W7 can produce 4" of peak to peak travel as where the typical drive maxs out at 2.5" peak to peak. All this needs to be concidered when purchasing a driver and how much do you want to spend.

You will either buy a high quality driver and get something that sounds great or buy an inexpensive large driver that sounds like junk.
