Question:
I have an older car (93 maxima) and the original owner put some audio equipment in it himself during the early 90's.
If i were to get 2 sony xplod 1300 watt subs what amps do i get and whats all this ohms stuff?
It's speakers work well enough to my standards, so I don't want to replace them.
Whats the relationship between between subs and amps and watts and that whole thing?
Inside my car I have a cassette player head unit that never worked well at all, and in the trunk I have a 6 CD changer that works decently as far as I know. I have a friend who unhooked entire system for reasons that equate a long story about my moving across country - let's not go there.
How do I ask for what I am looking for without getting upsold? I'd like to keep the 6 CD changer and just get another head unit. Can I get that and have it installed and hooked up to my old equipment? Should I get another cassette player head unit? or a CD player? It doesn't matter to me as long as it's cheap, plays MP3's and I can use the 6 disc CD changer I have in my trunk.
What is a good car amplifier brand?
Help me from getting scammed.
Where can I find instructions on getting a radio in a 1998 Audi A4 out of "safe" mode?
Also, how much would you estimate total costs?
THANKS!

Ever wonder how to set the gains or what size power wire to use?
The most important thin is recognize the brand of your radio and your cd chaner they should be the same. If you buy another radio it has to be the same brand of the CD changer in order to be compatible. Otherwise you won't be able to controll it, UNLESS you buy a cd chaner adapter to connect it throuh the antenna, which I personally don't recomend beacuse no matter what it will alwayss have some distortion from the FM Stations. I would recommend to buy a MP3 radio. can have approximetly 150 sons in just 1 cd. Trust me is the best you can do.How do I remove crossovers, car speakers?
Buy yourself a Pioneer Premier deck. They have good clean power, lots of features, and are quite affordable. Alpine is also very good, but has limited features. Don't use your CD changer. A single CD-R can hold more songs in MP3 format than the whole CD changer. Plus, you won't have to go to the trunk or remember which disk in in which slot. Changers are obsolete. You can buy a nice AM/FM/CD/MP3/WMA Pioneer Premier for between $150-$300. These decks also come with an ipod cable FREE. Doesn't matter unless you have one, though. Don't bother with cassettes, you can't even buy them anymore. Sorry. Hope this helps.Hey man.
What is better for a 15 inch sub..A mono amp or a 2 channel amp?
You can for sure hook your old changer and speakers up to the new head.
A decent face unit I'd recommend is Alpine... They have a few untits that connect right to your ipod usb port. The cable allows you to charge, play, and control your ipod from the stereo face.
I paid about $100 for that... Expect at TOP $175 w/ install.
What size amp will I need for one 12" subwoofer?
As for hooking everything up to it, if they have to run new cables, it'll cost you a little more. They are going to try to convince you to get new cables. Don't do it unless the old ones are worn out or they are an improper size to begin with.
I have gone to many places for this kind of thing. Don't let them charge you more than $200 for just installing the new head and maybe a few cords. If they do, ask EXACTLY why they are charging you more, and if it doesn't make sense to you, it probably is a rip-off. Take your business elsewhere and make sure they know that you are going to spend your money somewhere else!
Good luck.
How to controll subwoofer bass level.?
I would stick with the same brand head unit (cd Player) as the 6 disc changer. That way they are compatible with each other, and you won't have to worry about running your changer off the radio frequency. Do you know the brand of the changer? You also need to find out the wattage of your old speakers. Can they handle or cannot handle the power of your new Head Unit (cd Player). If they need more power you will have to amp the speakers. What are the brand of speakers? It should not cost more than, $40.00 to install a headunti. Check out this website. Maybe you can do it yourself, and save money. www.crutchfield.com, look for the tech department, you can also purchase head units there. They will send you everything you need for free except tools to install your cd player yourself.i agree with dirty south
