Installing XM Radio in 2004 Impala?

Question:
I want to install an XM SkyFi 2 in my 2004 Impala. The car has original factory installed head unit with single CD only.

How should I set my amplifier settings? LPF, HPF, etc.?

1. How can I tell if this head unit is "XM Ready"?

What size amp fuses (30 or 60) do I need in my fused distribution block on a 1000 watt system?

2. What is the easiest way to hard-wire the SkiFi without taking off the dash?

Do u think i will need a high output alternator in my sentra 94?

3. Is it possible create an "aux" line out?

I have a 1000w mono amp, that is stable at 1 ohm. can i hook two DVC 2 ohm subs up to this amp?

Thanks.

Anyone ever plug their sub into a wall outlet?

If your head unit is XM ready, it should have a logo on it or a "SAT" button or it should say so in the owner's manual or window sticker.

How do you change the time on a Pioneer Mosfet Wx4?

If not, there are a few ways to go about it. If your radio has an aux input capability it will have a jack on the front or plugs on the back. In that case you can just plug it in, turn it on and go.

Subowoofer sounds crappy is setup right??

Otherwise, you need to connect with an FM modulator and listen through your radio. Two ways to accomplish that, either just through a low power transmitter that requires no wiring, or by an in-line plug to the radio's antenna.

Can a cd deck be installed in a 96 saturn sl2? Could BestBuys do it?

You're going to need an FM trasmitter/broadcaster. If you're willing to take off the dash, than you can get away with an FM modulator (+2 antenna adapters). OEM radios that are satellite ready generally require an OEM XM tuner, which are ridiculously expensive. The other alternative would be to replace the factory deck. This can also get very expensive because of your cars functions run throught the factory deck, so you'd need an adapter box. These can cost $100+ depending on whether or not you have Onstar, RDS, etc...

Deciding on an amp? For my Subs, AW1208T?

Try the FM transmitter. If you can't stand the sound quality, buy a new radio with aux-in.

I have two Pioneer TS-301R 12" subs, is an Interfire 2900 amp too big to use with them?

What I would do if it was mine;
Replace the radio. I don't like On-Star, nor do I appreciate door chimes. I would just tag the accessory wire from the ignition harness (fused) and run speaker wires to the amp mounted to the ceiling in the trunk. That's where you can find the speaker wires. You will still need an antenna adapter, though. Hope this helped.

Where can I buy a replacement fascia for my in car Sony CDX-S2050 radio/CD player without buying a new radio?

There is a way to add an aux line to your car. It's a pain in the *** but it can be done. You'll need to wire a toggle switch and 8 SPDT relays. You won't have to take your dash apart to do this. Email me for specifics.
