How good must a car stereo system be to set off car alarms?

The 1241D can't be made to have a 4 ohm load without leaving one of the voice coils disconnected. I don't recommend this because it cuts the power handling of the speaker in half. I also don't think Alpine recommends using only one voice coil of a speaker. If you just HAVE to use this speaker, use only one voice coil and don't connect anything to the second set of terminals.
As far as power vs ohm load goes, that will depend more on which amp you are connecting this speaker to.
To check for sure you are at 4 ohms you'll need a volt, ohm meter.
